Strenghtening Communities: Pwani Version.
Along Tanzania’s Indian Ocean coast, within Pwani Region, lies a community with a predominantly young and growing population, where livelihoods depend on fishing, small scale agriculture, and informal trade. In communities such as Bagamoyo and Fukayosi, which carries our Community Development Projects (CDPs), daily life reflects both resilience and ambition, as families navigate limited access to Quality Education, Healthcare, and Economic Opportunities. Even so, strong community ties and a shared determination to improve living conditions continue to move the community forward. It is within this context that community led development efforts by Good Neighbors Tanzania are steadily taking root.
A bit of hope and resilience built by Good Neighbors Tanzania is seen, it can be seen in the way a young girl stands a little taller because she finally knows her rights, and the way a mother breathes easier knowing her child can go to the Hospital built by Good Neighbors Tanzania or using a Health Insurance Card given by Good Neighbors Tanzania, a father knowing that his Children will go to a School built by Good Neighbors Tanzania with supplies given by Good Neighbors Tanzania or even a woman receiving her Business Capital given by Good Fund. Since the establishment of Good Neighbors Tanzania, we have the incredible honor of walking with 13,940 neighbors who are proving that when we show up for each other, everything changes.
Confidence Starts with the Basics
We believe that no child should ever feel “less than” because they lack the basics. We have made sure over 1,700 students in Pwani headed to class with brand new school sweaters and sturdy shoes. It sounds simple, but for a student, that uniform is a shield it is the confidence to walk into a classroom and focus on their dreams instead of their clothes.

Young Leaders Taking the Mic
One of the most exciting shifts in Fukayosi is seeing our youth and children find their voices. We have worked with 460 students through Children’s Councils and Youth Advocacy Clubs, and the results are honestly electric. These kids are learning that their safety and their opinions matter.

A Healthy Village is a Strong Village
You can not build a future if you are worried about the next meal or a sudden fever. That is why the “heart” of our Pwani work is about wellness. We made sure 1,352 children in Bagamoyo and Fukayosi finally got the safety net of health insurance. For their parents, this is everything. It means no more impossible choices between buying food and seeing a doctor.

We also spent time with 373 caregivers, talking about nutrition, conversations about using local food to make sure the little ones grow up strong. At the same time, our student led WASH clubs have turned hygiene into a cool habit. These kids are now the “health bosses” of their homes, teaching their siblings about clean water and keeping Pwani beautiful for everyone.

It does not start with big moments it starts quietly. In classrooms where teachers choose to keep going, in small gatherings where parents show up and stay engaged, and in the steady determination of students who refuse to lower their expectations. These are the reasons we remain committed Good Neighbors. Our focus is not on the milestone, but on the work ahead, continuing to stand alongside communities, building what lasts, and staying present for our beloved Neighbors.
Good Change for the world!
